Karmak President & CEO to Become Chairman of the Board; Executive Vice President to Become President & CEO

Carlinville, Illinois (May 8, 2006) — Karmak, Inc. today announced that J. Richard Schien, President and CEO, will become the company’s Chairman of the Board. Bill Healy, Executive Vice President of Karmak, will become President and CEO. Both moves are effective immediately.

J. Richard Schien has been the driving force behind Karmak since he founded the company in 1981. He initially served as Vice President, and has served as President and CEO since 1984. Over the past 25 years Schien has grown Karmak from 2 customer business systems with 3 locations in 1982 to presently almost 500 customer systems with over 1,800 locations throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. In his new position, Schien will continue to play a key role at Karmak by focusing on strategic planning while continuing to serve as a key company spokesperson.

Bill Healy joined Karmak in June 1986. In 1989, he was promoted to Vice President of Operations, and was then again promoted in 1999 to the position Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. As Executive Vice President, he has been responsible for research and development, sales, marketing and customer support. As President and CEO he will add finance and administration to his responsibilities.

“Bill Healy has worked in every department except sales over the 20 years he has been with Karmak,” said Schien. “For the past 5 years Bill has been the organizing force behind Karmak’s development efforts. Bill has consistently shown his keen business sense and leadership ability,” added Schien. “He has demonstrated that he will be very effective in taking Karmak to the next level.”

Regarding his promotion, Healy said, “I’m excited to assume the role of President and CEO of a company as progressive and forward-thinking as Karmak. My goal is to keep Karmak moving in the direction of customer satisfaction and state-of-the-art development, as we have for the past 25 years.”

Healy is a 1986 graduate of Blackburn College with degrees in Business Administration and Economics. Healy, who is also Chief of the Carlinville Fire Department, resides in Carlinville, Ill. with his sons, Zach and Kyle.
